About Hamilton District Youth Theatre


South Lanarkshire's best amateur dramatics group for young people aged 9-25, producing two highly-acclaimed shows each year.


We are a local charity dedicated to putting on high quality shows performed by young people throughout the Hamilton and surrounding area. Hamilton District Youth Theatre (HDYT) was established in 1989 and has over the years gained a reputation both locally and nationally for quality theatre work with young people.

Currently the group has a membership made up of local young people which is split into 2 categories:-

Junior/Intermediate Section
Age 9-15 (Up to S4)

Senior Section
Age 15-25 (S4 Up)

The Theatre Group has embarked on many exciting projects and has taken productions to Hamilton (Ohio, USA) New Jersey (USA), London, Toronto (Canada) and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Rehearsals take place weekly on a Thursday evening at the Hamilton Town House with two high quality shows being performed throughout the year to wide and appreciative audiences.
